This Christmas was kinda tough but full of so much love. We sang Happy birthday to Jesus late but better late than never. Its a new tradition so its taking a little time to get into the hang of things. I think next Christmas we will make a birthday cake for Jesus to bring the true meaning of Christmas to life. :D I was not raised in a Christian home so most our traditions are recreated. My favorite new tradition is going out to Chinese food. This is called a Jewish Christmas. You go to shabot on Saturday and out to Chinese food afterwards because usually Chinese is the only thing open. I was a little saddened that we missed our first shabot service because everyone has been fighting whooping cough. Maybe next year? I really hope.
After a morning full of opening this gift and that I got to go to bed for a nap. Chinese really was the perfect gift because I was so tired and didnt have the energy to cook for 2 days. I liked that instead of being cooped up in the kitchen that I got to actually be a part of things and spend time enjoying my family. :)
My husband bought me the most amazing gift this yr. I have always wanted a mothers ring but this yr he bought me 4 charms for my Pandora bracelet. 1 says forever together and the other 3 are the birthstones of my grandchildren and my daughter. He never ceases to amaze me. It is the perfect gift since my kids are moving thousands of miles away this year.
Mostly we all just relaxed and rested enjoying the boys play with all their new toys.
At least till the bedtime meltdown! Papa rocked Franky to sleep while I sat next to Isaacs bed singing sweet Jesus how much do you love Isaac to sleep. They both slept ever so peaceably, all through the night without any coughing fits. This was the best Christmas Gift of the evening.
What I mean by unschooling is we take life experiences and the world around us and use it as our classroom. We take the mundane textbook and turn it into an adventure the boys can explore and have fun with all the while learning. We are a retired Military family that has begun homesteading here in Alaska. I will be posting pictures and blogging about our experiences in our Unschooling journey through the eyes of our backyard wilderness experiences Alaska.

Christmas Past
As I sit here tonight looking around this house remembering where I came from and reminiscing on Christmases past. Its kinda hard when the feeling of loss overwhelms my heart. I lost my father that I hardly knew a few Octobers ago and it feels like yesterday I went to see a dying man in the last stages of pancreatic cancer. Its just hard. I was robbed of so much not to have known this man I now call my dad.
I remember sitting in his house that October and he is bringing out to me several things. Pictures, a vieat nam scrap book, dvds my grandmother and him. I still haven't been able to go through it all. Its just hard to work myself through a scrapbook of nam memories (letters to my grandmother)and all the things he gave me. He gave me so much the 8 days we were together and it may take me a lifetime to work through it all.
Shirley who I now call mama shirls..(lol)Is so great she tries so hard to make up for it all, she doesn't have to but I can tell she will forever try. We have gotten pretty close and often times I wonder what life would have been like had she raised me instead of my own mother. I will never know. She gives me stuff everytime I go to visit. I think my favorite things is all these awesome Christmas decorations. They are antiques, many of them passed down from my grandmother. Her Christmas tree ornimants decorate my tree like a warm blanket. Each one has its own character and its own uniqueness. Some of them are newer than others some of them are broken some of them are even dog bones, but I love them all. Mostly because of the rich history behind each one. A history I will never know but will put them on our tree nonetheless.
I now have roots I never before had. I come from a line of powerful people, people that shaped history, people that made a difference. I can only hope that some day my grandchildren will be able to look at pictures of me and be able to say that I made a difference not only in their lives but in the world in which we live.

Life as yaya
I am the Yaya (grandma) of my 2 grandsons. I will tell you that name holds the highest honour. I love the name. Every time they call my grandma name my heart skips a beat. These boys are the loves of my life! (aside from the Lord and my hubby)Grandchildren have filled my heart and given me such a great joy! I never thought or even knew that grandchildren hold such an amazing place in the heart of a grandparent. I would have loved to do grandma before mom. Its so different. I get to be their hero.
Dont get me wrong I loved being a mommy! At the time I didn't think their was anything better, but once your children are grown and get lives of their own and once you get your heart gutted out with a spoon once they leave and just when you feel like life couldn't get any darker here came Franky and here came Isaac and they are my greatest joy! (aside from the Lord)
I write in this blog to leave footprints for my grandchildren. I want them to know what their Yaya was all about once ive gone to be with the Lord. As a Hospice Nurse I have seen death stare me in the face and im probably more awares than most at how short life really is, how fragile our bodies really are. I dont fear death as a Christian, because I know where im going but rather the unlived life! I plan to live life to the fullest and full of love and joy because life is short and God doesn't promise us another day.

Its a new day
Its started at 3:30 am the dog needs to go outside ((really))!? Ok so im not that thrilled about being up at this hour for a dog of all things; nonetheless I decided to count it all joy because this is the day the Lord has made and I will rejoice and be glad in it. So, once i go back to bed and toss and turn for an hour I decided this would be a good time for me to begin working through my Bible study. Ive been trying to get to it all week. I have had every distraction know to man! At least is seems as though. Everything from urgent care visits for my adult daughter and watching my 2 toddler grandsons. Sheese thats all it takes right there to put the breaks on anything you are trying to accomplish in your life.
My daughter is ok and hopefully today the medication will have wore off and she doesnt have another migraine episode to this degree ever again.
I am still trying to figure this blogg and trying to figure out how to post pictures and things so for now and until I have the time to play around with this, this will have to do.

Christmas Chimes
I hear the chimes of Christmas sounding in my head while I have not yet made the gingerbread,Harvest is passing and thanksgiving is coming and today I hear not the sounds of thankfulness but the songs of a saviours birth. Here comes Franky and here comes Isaac YAYA they say. Is it time is it here is Christmas really drawing near. With eyes wide open and hearts ready to burst as I say yes my dears let me quench your thirst. Its not about toys and its not about presents although these are nice its about our Lord Jesus and his birthday night.
OO do you hear the trumpet?? Do you see Bethlehem star? Can you hear the angels singing? And the smell of Myrrh. O Yes indeed this is a wondrous night a glorious event. I see the shepherds walking on the road to Bethlehem and the 3 wise men are on their way with their gifts of frankincense myrrh and gold. This child so awesomely born, this child in a manger is now here. His name is Jesus our saviour and Lord.
