What I mean by unschooling is we take life experiences and the world around us and use it as our classroom. We take the mundane textbook and turn it into an adventure the boys can explore and have fun with all the while learning. We are a retired Military family that has begun homesteading here in Alaska. I will be posting pictures and blogging about our experiences in our Unschooling journey through the eyes of our backyard wilderness experiences Alaska.

The breath of God
As I sit here with my cup of coffee and ponder all the things that are going on in my life the one thing that ive been reminded of is the choices we make and how our actions and the things that we say affect those around us. CHOICES. This is a problem! God gave us the freedom to chose because he loves us so much he didn't want to take that away. He also gave us the beloved Holy Spirit to help us to turn the right way but often times we ignore that still small voice and go our own way. When this happens its always a mistake and turns into a life lesson we regret or are ashamed of. So how does one get to that place where they are so reliant on the Holy Spirit that when those temptations come we can stand firm. First you have to be in touch with reality. You have to take that head knowledge and apply it to your heart. We have to remember that the grass that looks greener on the other side is a trap from Saten!People he wants to trip us up and destroy our lives! That grass that looks greener on the other side (no matter what that grass looks like) is a lethal poison. A poison that will destroy you and everything and everybody around you. The reality of this is that God sees all knows all and has the bigger picture. He can see what we cant see and he is taking us by the hand and walking us through a mine field. Lets not let lose sight of Jesus and hold tightly to the hand of God as he leads the way.
Second we have to put our armor on. I am as guilty as the next Christian to forget that one and walk right into battle laying my armor on the ground. We have to learn to fight back and to take up that armor and when we have done all to just stand. Gods got this and every battle and he will never leave us or forsake us.
Thirdly absorb your mind into the word of God. The renewing of our mind comes through the washing of the word. I just learned this the other day. My daughter and I have been watching more tv than I am used to. (this isn't a anti tv thing just what God used)and there were certain phrases that were used in one of the seasons of a show that kept ringing like a blast in my mind. It was making me nuts! Then the scripture came to me and reminded me of how important and vital our daily devotional time with the Lord really is. You see its not about just getting a clean heart give God ur 5 min and your done. Its about surrendering before the throne of grace yes and getting that clean heart but also listening to that still small voice and renewing your mind through the washing of the word. This is one of the keys to our cleansing faith. We have to put that key in its hole and turn to the word and let it wash not over our minds but our entire being. Without this key our Christian walk becomes weak. Yes we may know all the right things to say, we know how to preform the act so everybody around us doesn't know how sick our hearts and minds have become. GOD KNOWS! Remember he not only sees the bigger picture but he sees us for who we really are and he still loves us anyways.
He is calling do you hear him? He is whispering your name do you feel the breath of God? Jesus is reaching out to you will you take hold of his hand so he can safely bring you through the minefield of your life?
